FOR SALE: Five (5) flint lock Muzzle loading Rifles as noted below. All are made from Traditions Hawken Woodsman rifle kits but modified as described. All have original Traditions hardwood stocks, brass trigger guards, double set triggers, ramrods and brass “Leman-Style” round patch boxes. All barrels are straight octagon and guns are configured for right-handed shooters and come with brass jag, extra flint, user manual (as digital PDF) and a suitable range rod. All locks are good sparkers, but as expected the L&Rs are a bit better. The barrels have all been rust browned with BWC Super Blue and then cured with transmission fluid before application of several coats paste wax . All stocks have 6 to 7 hand rubbed coats of BWC Tru-Oil finish and an additional 4 to 6 coats of BWC gunstock Wax or Minwax paste wax. None of these guns have been sighted in for accuracy and groupings but all shoot rather well with patched round balls. All should be good hunting guns.

FOR SALE 0.58 CAL FAETON Muzzle Loader
Custom made by Roger Renner, retired founder and former owner of the Pacific Rifle Company, famously known for its high quality underhammer muzzle loading hunting firearms.
This Faeton is a 0.58 cal (0.577 bore) with a straight octagon 30” barrel finished in a faux Damascus design. Barrel is rifled in the very accurate Forsyth pattern with approximately 1:100 twist. Stock and forearm are made of quality American Walnut. Ignition is with standard musket caps. There is a safe half cock position for the hammer. Receiver section is bronze as seen in picture. Gun is equipped with Renner’s unique (patented ?) adjustable rear aperture rear and a standard blade front sight. Gun is lightweight but very accurate. I have done 5 shot groups of under 5” at 100 yards on the RI range. Renner claims it is designed for any N American big game. Underhammer design is inherently user friendly… hammer does not affect sighting and puts any cap fragments away from shooter. It is also fully ambidextrous and the cap position helps protect it from inclement weather. Musket caps are used to insure a more consistent powder charge ignition including most black powder substitutes. Forsyth rifling is for 0.58 and larger caliber round ball shooting although Roger Renner also sells a special (heavier) conical projectile that is claimed to work well in this sort of rifle. See www.rjrenner.blogspot.com
Comes with “sock” style cover, range rod, jag and cleaning tools, some hand cast and swaged Hornady balls, some lubed over-powder fiber wads, canvas range bag and ball mold. I also can supply digital copies of various documentations. Note: I used to cast my own balls but now find that commercially available Hornady swaged balls are more consistent and a lot easier (and safer) than casting my own since bullet casting lead is getting expensive and hard to come by now—a-days . I may also have a couple extra musket nipples to fit. A basic, no frills Faeton these days (if you are willing to wait) will set you back around $2500 more or less + shipping. This custom made Faeton with the sights upgrade and fancy Damascus barrel finish can be yours with the extras noted for $1850.
